Information
Abraham Lincoln served in the US Congress, and in 1858, he ran against Stepehen Douglas for a Senate seat and lost. In 1860 he won the presidency partially due to his heroics in the Mexican War. The Civil War consumed Lincoln. He underwent many struggles while in office including the death of his child. He was killed during his second term. He is revered today as the President who saved the Union.
