Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) won a seat in the NY Senate in 1910. Three years later appointed as assistant secretary of the US Navy. Throughout his life he fought Polio, and as a result he was handicapped in a wheelchair during his presidency. FDR used the New Deal Program and motivating "fireside chats" to galvanize the American People from the abyss of the Great Depression. In 1941, the US entered World War II, due to the bombing of Pearl Harbor. FDR along with Churchill and Stalin defeated Hitler's German forces threatening global imperialism. He was instrumental in forming the United Nations. FDR died of natural causes in office, and he also became the first President to serve more than two terms. He is remembered today as a great US President. FDR Links
